Congratulations to everybody who got involved in Numeracy week, it was great to see so many participating. A special thanks to Echuca Paramount Cinemas and McDonald’s in Echuca for donating prizes.

During numeracy week the Maths Department will be organising many fun mathematical activities. There will be great prizes including movies tickets from Echuca Paramount Cinemas & Vouchers from McDonalds in Echuca. So much sure you get involved. The activities will be many held during lunchtime and they included:
Sudoku Challenge, can you be the quickest to solve the puzzle. There’s a link to endless Sudoku puzzles for you to start practicing on line. Last year’s winner solved the puzzle to the right in just under 5 minutes. How quick can you do it.
Monday Lunchtime in Room 4
Amazing Race —Based on the TV show, students in teams of 2, will race around the school solving questions and problems to get the next clue. One part of the race is to complete a slider, click here to practice.
Wednesday Lunchtime in Room 12
Timetables Competition, open to all years to find the grandmaster timestabler! It’s done online, so click here to start practicing now. The correcting setting for the competetion are show on the right.

Everyday during Numeracy week
Did you see the Lunar Eclipse that happen on Tuesday 28th August around 8.40pm. It is caused when the moon passes through the shadow from the earth.

There is a lot of mathematics is calculating when and why these eclipses occur. For more information check out the ABC’s Science website or for some high powered maths on eclipses click here
